East College (South)January 29, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Two finalists for DePauw University's presidency will make campus visits next week, Sarah Reese Wallace, chair of the presidential search committee announced today. "I am thrilled to be able to introduce these two distinguished individuals to the DePauw community," says Wallace, a 1976 graduate of the University. "As this process, which began nine months ago, enters its final phase, I believe students, faculty, alumni, staff and friends of DePauw will share my excitement in getting to know these dynamic candidates."

The names of the finalists will be released in the coming days, before their campus visits next Tuesday and Friday. This announcement serves as notice that the individuals -- who we'll identify as "Candidate A" and "Candidate B" -- will be at DePauw next week for a series of events designed to allow the campus community to meet and interact with them. Please note that the schedules and venues may change.

"Candidate A", Tuesday, February 5:

  • 10 - 10:50 a.m. Meet with the Staff, Thompson Recital Hall, Green Center for the Performing Arts
  • 4 - 4:50 p.m. Meet with Students, Kresge Auditorium, Green Center for the Performing Arts
  • 5 - 6 p.m. Faculty Forum, Meharry Hall, East College

"Candidate B", Friday, February 8:

  • 10 - 10:50 a.m. Meet with the Staff, Thompson Recital Hall, Green Center for the Performing Arts

  • 5 - 6 p.m. Faculty Forum, Meharry Hall, East College Student Study Fall 2007.jpg

The two candidates will also have the opportunity to meet with community leaders and alumni.

"We do look forward to identifying the candidates by name in a few days time, and encourage all members of the DePauw community to avail themselves of the opportunity to meet these individuals," adds Sarah Wallace. She is leading a committee of 17 individuals, which includes nine other Trustees, four faculty members, two students and one administrator. They are being assisted by Russell Reynolds Associates, a global executive search firm headquartered in New York.

Robert G. Bottoms, who has served as DePauw's president since 1986, announced in April that he will be stepping down from the post and becoming Chancellor of the University following the 2007-08 academic year.
