Thursday's 'Jazz at the Duck' Features Prof. Sandy Williams

February 4, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw Jazz at the Duck moves into February with an appearance by the Sandy Williams Quartet this Thursday, February 7. Taking place from 9 to 11 p.m. at Walden Inn's Fluttering Duck, this evening of music is free and open to the public.
A Greencastle native and instructor of music at DePauw, Sandy Williams is in high demand as a versatile guitarist in the Indianapolis music scene. Williams' activities include a studio project with John Mellencamp as well as performances with Jim Farrelly's group True to Form. A graduate of Indiana University in jazz studies and ethnomusicology, Professor Williams has performed with internationally-known jazz drummers like Steve Smith of Steps Ahead, Chester Thompson of Weather Report and William Kennedy from the Yellowjackets.
Now in its seventh semester of entertaining campus and community audiences, DePauw Jazz at the Duck showcases the talents of area jazz musicians as well as DePauw's talented jazz students. Continuing through May 8, the series presents scintillating jazz and blues performances every Thursday night in events which are free and open to the public.
Upcoming series highlights include a special Valentine's Day performance by 3rd Man with Jack Helsley, Jeff Helgesen and Jazz Mayhem on February 28, and local blues legend Tad Robinson on April 3.Back
