Oilar Named to Academic All-District Team

February 7, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior Brian Oilar has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 College Division Second Team in voting by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Oilar, a history major from Noblesville with a 3.60 grade point average entering his final semester, is a three-time selection to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll. He also is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Mortar Board vice-president.
Additionally, Oilar has served as a member of the SCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society and is an inductee into Chi Alpha Sigma, a national scholar-athlete honor society.
On the basketball court, he's averaging 12.8 points per game and a team-high 8.2 rebounds, while shooting 53.7 percent from the field for the 16-4 Tigers. Oilar ranks seventh in school history with 50 career blocks.
To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for his/her career.
