Eighth-Ranked Tigers Win Ninth Straight; Clinch Eighth Straight 20-Win Season

February 16, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - The eighth-ranked Tigers improved to 20-3 overall and 12-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference following an 85-51 win over Centre. The Colonels dropped to 7-13 overall and 4-8 in the conference.
DePauw jumped out to a 10-0 lead and extended the first-half margin to as many as 21 at 27-6 before going to the intermission with a 38-21 lead.
Centre scored the first four points of the second half, but the Tigers scored the next 13 which sealed the victory.
Katie Mathews led DePauw with a career-high 15, while Cassie Pruzin followed with 14 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Emily Marshall added 13 points and seven rebounds and Jenna Fernandez scored 10 and recorded a game-high five steals.
Rebecca Rhule paced Centre with 15 points on five three-pointers, while Chelsea Goodman added 10. Alison Denbow led the Colonels with seven rebounds.
DePauw shot 48.6 percent for the game and limited to Centre to just 37.7 percent. The Tigers also held a 45-23 edge on the boards and grabbed 18 on the offensive galss leading to 19 second-chance points.
The win was the Tigers' ninth straight on the season and 24th consecutive at home. DePauw extended its home regular season win streak to 43 and its consecutive string of SCAC home wins to 39.
The victory also extended DePauw's streak of 20-win seasons to eight straight and 12 in the last 13 seasons.
DePauw travels to Sewanee on Friday, February 22, for a 6 p.m. CST game.
