Kiplingers April 2008.jpgMarch 18, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw University remains among America's 50 "best values" in liberal arts colleges, according to the April 2008 issue of Kiplinger's Personal Finance. The magazine describes the list, which is topped by Swarthmore College, as "a range of schools with strong academics, generous financial-aid policies and, in some cases, a decent price to begin with." A separate ranking details the 50 top private universities.

"Families fearing that private education is out of their financial reach should know that there are some outstanding deals to be had," says Kiplinger's editor Fred Frailey. He adds, "You can receive a top-notch education without breaking the bank."

The magazine ranks 100 private institutions: with 50 being large private universities and another 50 small private Fall Walk 2007 Tennis Racquet.jpgliberal arts colleges, like DePauw. The institutions cited on the list are selected from a pool of more than 1,000 private colleges and universities. Each is ranked according to academic quality and affordability -- with quality accounting for two-thirds of the total.
