$35 Million Cash Infusion Will Fund Expansion of Angie Hicks' ('95) 'List'
April 12, 2008
April 12, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - "It's fun to think about what we're going to do," says Angie Hicks, co-founder and chief marketing officer of Angie's List and 1995 graduate of DePauw University. Boston-based Battery Ventures is making a $35 million investment in Hicks' company, which will allow the firm to expand into new markets. (top photo: Kelly Wilkinson/Indianapolis Star)
Angie's List has chapters in 124 cities, with some 600,000 members. The former Management Fellow's company provides a forum for its customers to rate plumbers, painters and other service providers. With the new capital, "Hicks said the company soon will make the 'infrastructure' available for anyone to establish a chapter," reports the Indianapolis Star. "Currently the smallest cities are Fort Wayne and Eugene, Ore., but the new push could take it into the tiniest burgs. 'We think it will be especially popular in vacation areas where people have second homes,' she said."
