"You Can Learn and Have Fun," Says Retiring Teacher Bill Marion '75
June 12, 2008
June 12, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - "I'm going to read the books I've always wanted to read and do some yard work -- whatever suits my fancy and needs to be done," says Charles William "Bill" Marion, who is retiring after teaching at Indiana's Covington Elementary School for 37 years. Marion received a master's degree in elementary education from DePauw University in 1975.
"Marion described the annual outdoor summer school for the fourth and fifth grades as a career highlight," reports the Commercial-News of Danville, Illinois. "He has especially enjoyed taking students to Lincoln State Park and Indiana Dunes, where they could see cactus grow wild. 'You can learn and have fun,' is the motto Marion hopes his students will remember, and many of those who took his rocket-building class probably agree," writes Linda McGurk.
