Vernon Jordan '57 Among the Luminaries Supporting 'Possible Dreams' Fundraiser

Vernon Jordan Classroom.jpgJune 30, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Vernon Jordan, "the noted Washington insider and civil rights advocate," is donating a "golf dream package" as part of the annual Possible Dreams Auction on Martha's Vineyard, reports the Cape Cod Times. Jordan, a 1957 graduate of DePauw University, "will host the winning bidder and two guests for lunch and a round at Farm Neck in Oak Bluffs."

Others who are contributing to the August 4 fundraiser for Martha's Vineyard Community Services include Ernie Els, Diane Sawyer, Mike Nichols, Jim Belushi and Alan Dershowitz.

Vernon E. Jordan Jr., senior managing director of Lazard Fréres & Co., is former president of the National Urban League and advised Presidents vernon jordan arw2007.jpgClinton and Carter. An advisory member of DePauw's Board of Trustees, Jordan is co-producer of the new Broadway bioplay, Thurgood. He marked the release of his memoir, Vernon Can Read!, with a speech on October 27, 2001, in which he spoke of his days as a student in Greencastle.
