Football Coach Matt Walker '99 Seeks "Consistency" vs. Centre College
September 19, 2008
September 19, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - "It's always been a tough place to play," says DePauw head football coach Matt Walker '99 of Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, where the Tigers open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play tomorrow. "That concerns us, especially with the slow start we had last week."
DePauw opened its season with a 52-17 victory over Anderson University last Saturday at Blackstock Stadium, overcoming an early 10-0 deficit. Walker tells the Banner-Graphic his team has had a lot to work on in practice.
"We didn't play as well as our score indicated," he says. "We need to work on consistency."
Jared Jernagan writes, "Areas of concern for the Tigers include getting a good start -- they turned the ball over in their first two possessions -- and the running game, where they averaged just under 2.5 yards per carry."
Centre is 1-1 on the season and is coming off a 20-17 loss to Maryville.
