Undefeated Tigers Host Sewanee on Saturday
September 25, 2008
September 25, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - The 2-0 Tigers return home to host 2-1 Sewanee in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference football game at Blackstock Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff for the Family Weekend contest is set for 1 p.m. and there is no admission charge.
DePauw enters with a 1-0 SCAC record after defeating Centre by a 27-14 count last Saturday. The victory was the Tigers' sixth straight dating back to a home loss to Trinity on October 13, 2007, which equals the third longest current streak in Division III. The Tigers enter the game with the fourth best rushing defense in the nation as they've allowed just 50 total rushing yards in the first two games.
Sewanee also comes into the contest with a 1-0 SCAC mark after blanking visiting Colorado College, 19-0, last Saturday. The win snapped a 13-game SCAC losing streak and lifted the Tigers to their second win which doubles last year's total.
DePauw leads the all-time series, 9-1, after last year's 14-10 win at Sewanee in which the Tigers scored in the fourth and stopped the hosts in the closing minute. The last two meetings and three of the five contests in Greencastle have been decided by seven or fewer points.
Saturday's contest can be heard on WGRE (91.5 FM) with live stats also available. A complete set of game notes is available for download as is the annual DePauw football guide. Copies of the 2008 football guide will be available for sale at home games later in the season.
