Gretchen Cryer '57 to Host November 3 NYC Concert

Gretchen Cryer 2.jpgOctober 3, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - "Gretchen Cryer of I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It On the Road fame will host" a November 3 concert as part of Kaufman Center's "Broadway Close Up" series at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City, reports Playbill. The program will feature the works of Richard Maltby Jr. and David Shire. Cryer is a 1957 graduate of DePauw University.

Performers will include Sally Mayes, Lynne Wintersteller, Loni Ackerman, Benjamin Schrader and Gwen Hollander.

Gretchen Cryer was the subject of a New York Times story in April. She and her DePauw classmate, Nancy Ford, are award-winning Broadway collaborators. Besides I'm Getting My Act Together..., which premiered in 1978 and ran for three years, they recently presented a musical adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. Their new work, Einstein and the Roosevelts, is receiving its world premiere at DePauw over the next two weekends. Read more here.
