Tigers Move into SCAC First-Place Tie with Win over Sewanee

October 11, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw jumped out to a 3-1 first half lead and never trailed on the way to a 4-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over visiting Sewanee. The Tigers improved to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the SCAC, while Sewanee dropped to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Carolyn Mueller gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead just 3:45 into the contest on Meredith Ellis' assist. Sewanee's Taylor Sheen tied the game at 1-1 at 7:25 before Ellis scored the eventual game winner at 13:50. Kimberly Trainor rounded out the first half scoring at 21:53 to make it 3-1.

Mueller came back for her second score with just 1:09 left in the contest.

DePauw outshot Sewanee 18-11, while Sewanee held a 10-5 edge in corners. DePauw's Liz Attewell recorded eight saves, while Clarkie Crawford had one for Sewanee and Emily Detmer had two.

The Tigers are tied with Centre for first in the SCAC standings and host Rhodes at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
