October 13, 2008
October 13, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw junior quarterback Spud Dick and junior placekicker Jordan Havercamp have each earned Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for their performances in Saturday's 31-21 win over Birmingham-Southern.
Dick (pictured left) earned offensive player of the week honors and completed a career-high 37 of 45 passes (82.2%) for a career-best 395 yards. He threw for two touchdowns as well, as the Tigers rallied to defeat Birmingham-Southern, 31-21. In the second half alone, Dick connected on 20 of 23 passes for 261 yards for a 196.63 efficiency rating and completed all 11 third-quarter attempts.
His 37 completions were five off the SCAC record of 42 set by Jared Tharpe of Rose-Hulman Oct. 6, 2001, and just four shy of Jason Lee's school record 41 against Hope on September 16, 2000. Dick's 395 passing yards ranked seventh in DePauw history and his 401 total offense yards were third.
Havercamp was a special teams honoree and connected on 2-of-3 extra points, made a 45-yard field goal and scored on a 2-yard fake field goal attempt (right) in the fourth quarter of the Tigers' 31-21 win over visiting Birmingham-Southern.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, October 18, when it travels to San Antonio, Texas, to face 5-0 and 18th-ranked Trinity.Back
