Lori Grimm 2008(2).jpgOctober 26, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Lori (Wright) Grimm, manager of quality and patient safety officer at Women's Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana and 1991 graduate of DePauw University, is the 2008 recipient of the Distinguished Nursing Alumna Award. The honor was presented by the University of Southern Indiana Nursing Alumni Society. Grimm earned her master's degree from USI.

"Lori is a perfect role model for young nurses because she cares very much about patients, patient safety, improving outcomes, and the quality of care in general," says Allison Ingler, nurse manager in high-risk obstetrics at Women's Hospital, who nominated Grimm for the award. Ingler is a member of the USI Nursing Alumni Society. "She makes sure that we are meeting and exceeding standards."

Grimm, who joined Women's Hospital when the facility opened in 2001, notes, "What I enjoy about nursing is improving the lives of others. That's why I'm a nurse."
