November 26, 2008
November 26, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - "It truly was a community effort," says Linda Merkel, who coordinated this year's Putnam County Coats for Kids drive. About 700 coats were collected for needy local families, about double last year's total. "First, it was held in the community building at the Putnam County Fairgrounds instead of the senior center, which meant hours could be extended and more parking was available. Secondly, Merkel said, the economy likely played a role."
