Centre Tops Spalding in Amy Hasbrook Classic

December 29, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. — Three Centre players combined to score 54 points as the Colonels claimed a 78-62 victory over Spalding in the third game of the Amy Hasbrook Classic. The Colonels improved to 7-4 with the win, while the Golden Eagles dropped to 6-5.
Spalding built as much as a six-point first half advantage at 15-9 with just under 11 minutes left, but Centre put together a 24-2 run to take a 33-17 lead with 3:27 remaining in the half. The Colonels took a 42-24 lead into the intermission and extended it to as many as 25 at 51-26 early in the second half.
The Golden Eagles gradually closed the gap to 10 at 53-43, but the Colonels put the game away with three pointers on three straight possessions.
Chelsea Goodman paced Centre with 20 followed by Lauren Huter with 18 and Maggie Prewitt with 16. Huter led with a game-high nine rebounds, while Prewitt dished out seven assists.
Kristen Pendleton led Spalding with 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Beth Jamison scored 12 and hauled down eight rebounds.
