Dan Quayle '69 Tees it Up at 50th Bob Hope Classic

January 19, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — Dan Quayle, the forty-fourth vice president of the United States and 1969 graduate of DePauw University, is among the celebrity participants in the 50th Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Hosted by Arnold Palmer, the event begins Wednesday and continues through Saturday at several courses in Southern California.
Others in the tournament's 30-member celebrity field include NFL legend Jerry Rice, rocker Alice Cooper, Hall of Fame sportscaster Keith Jackson, and Tampa Bay Rays third baseman and 2008 American League Rookie of the Year Evan Longoria.
In 49 years, the tournament has donated more than $47 million to charities throughout the Coachella Valley. The event is being covered by the Golf Channel.

A member of DePauw's Athletic Hall of Fame, Dan Quayle captained the Tiger golf team and was among the former players of Ted Katula who honored the retired coach at the November 12, 2005 announcement of a new endowed chair, the Theodore M. Katula Director of Athletics.
In 1990, he received DePauw's McNaughton Medal for Public Service.
