Forsell is a founding member of the original ACT cast and had been serving as associate artistic director.

The appointment is part of a restructuring announced by ACT Friday. It is also looking to move from the Athenaeum, where it has staged its performances since 1990, into a venue that is approximately one-third the size.

"We're looking for a smaller space that would seat 100 people, a more traditional cabaret environment," says Barbara Weaver Smith, who chairs ACT's board. "We expect to be in one of the significant arts venues Downtown one-third the size of what we have now."

"The theater is returning to its roots, but also making changes to reflect current audience trends," says Forsell. "ACT will produce smaller, more intimate and authentic cabaret shows, shows more true to the cabaret art form."

Jay Harvey writes, "Pulling back from a recent trend toward musical plays, ACT will introduce the 'Signature Cabaret Series,' short-run shows featuring well-known local performers such as Forsell, Jimmy Guilford, Steven Stolen and Brenda Williams.
