February 3, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — "We in this country can't imagine what it would be like to have someone say you cannot dance, you cannot sing, in a specific way, or specific style,"Jay White, assistant professor of music at DePauw University, tells the Epoch Times. In the New York City-based Chinese language newspaper, the professor describes his recent experience of seeing the Divine Performing Arts New Year Spectacular in Indianapolis. "To have this shared with so many people is just wonderful," he declares.
"Among a long list of accolades, Dr. White has sung eight seasons with the internationally acclaimed ensemble, Chanticleer, with whom he traveled to over 40 states and 15 countries," reports. "Sought after as an interpreter of Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque repertoire, White has appeared at national and international 'Early Music' festivals and has sung under the batons of Christopher Hogwood, Nicholas McGegan, Donald Burrows, and Bruno Weill."
