Rev. William Murphy '93 Named 25th President of St. Ignatius HS

February 19, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — The Rev. William Murphy, S.J., a 1993 graduate of DePauw University, has been named the 25th president of St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland. Murphy, who was elected to his new post by the school's board of regents yesterday, will assume the presidency effective July 1, 2009.
"Murphy, 38, special assistant to the president of St. Xavier High School, Cincinnati, was born near Harrisburg, Pa., raised in East Lansing, Mich., and earned a bachelor's degree in economics from DePauw University, Greencastle, Ind.," reports the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "Before joining the Jesuits in 1997, he worked as business manager for the Cathedral of the Assumption, Louisville, Ky., and as an auditor and financial analyst for
the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. During his early years with the Jesuits, Murphy attended Loyola University Chicago, earned an advanced degree from Weston School of Theology, Cambridge, Mass., and taught mathematics for three years at Cincinnati's St. Xavier. He was ordained to the priesthood in June 2008."
