DePauw Begins Quest for Fourth Straight SCAC Title; Faces Hendrix on Friday

2009SCAC Tournament Logo_403x360.jpgFebruary 26, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. —  The 21-4 Tigers open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament play on Friday, February 27, when they face host Hendrix College in the second quarterfinal game. Tipoff from Hendrix's Grove Gymnasium in Conway, Ark., is set for 3 p.m. CST. DePauw's game notes are available for download.

DePauw, ranked 17th in the latest D3hoops.com Poll and 19th in the USA Today ESPN Coaches' Poll, earned the Eastern Division's number two seed after tying Oglethorpe for the top spot with a 12-2 SCAC record. Hendrix, 14-11 overall and 7-8 in the SCAC, is the third seed from the Western Division.

The teams met on January 25 in Conway with DePauw taking an 80-71 win. In that game, Lauren Goff led the Tigers with 19 points, while Emily Marshall grabbed nine rebounds. Chelsey White led Hendrix with 17 points.

DePauw has appeared in all six previous SCAC tournaments and advanced to the title game each time. Included in that are SCAC championships in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

The winner of Friday's game advances to Saturday's first semifinal game at 1 p.m. CST where they'll face the winner of the Trinity-Rhodes game. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at Noon CST.
