Sophomore Takes Major Award at Japanese Speech Contest in Chicago

March 23, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw University sophomore Brandon Roberts is the recipient of the Chicago-Osaka Sister City Special Award, which was presented by the Consulate General of Japan at Chicago. The prize, which was given Saturday at the Japan Information Center's 23rd annual Japanese Language Speech Contest, includes a round-trip air ticket to Osaka as well as a one week home stay in that city.
Roberts was one of 39 students of all ages who presented speeches at the competition. His topic was "A Future Decided by Exams."Back
