April 2, 2009
April 2, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — Brad Stevens, the 2009 Horizon League Coach of the Year and 1999 graduate of DePauw University, has received a one year extension of his contract to serve as head men's basketball coach at Butler University, the school announced today. Stevens' contract now carries through the conclusion of the 2015-16 season.
"A year ago, at the end of a 30-4 season, Stevens had his contract extended through 2014-15," reports the Indianapolis Star's David Woods. "He was 26-6 this season, and is 56-10 in two years. Only one coach in major college history, North Carolina's Bill Guthridge (58-14 from 1997-99), had more victories in his first two years as a head coach."
