May 2, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — "Former Valparaiso High School basketball coach Harley (Skip) Collins ['65] will be inducted into DePauw's 23rd Hall of Fame class Saturday," begins an article in the Gary Post-Tribune. "Others who will be inducted at DePauw are Charee Campbell Condict ['98] (swimming), Carl Meditch ['59] (basketball/baseball), Jeff Voris ['90] (football), Pete Land ['90] (baseball/soccer) and Melissa Terrill Spowal ['96] (field hockey)."
Of Collins, John Mutka writes, "The two-sport star played baseball for four years at the Greencastle campus and was named all-conference in 1965 after leading the Tigers in hitting. A rarity, he was a switch-hitting catcher. In basketball, he played for the legendary Elmer McCall. Collins served as DePauw's team captain in both sports in his senior season. He also worked as sports director of WGRE and was the voice of DePauw during football season."
