Softball Team Improves to 31-8 with Tournament Win
May 10, 2009
May 10, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — "Tigers' hurler Megan Soultz stymied the Jackets (30-16) by scattering four hits and striking out half a dozen to improve to 28-8 this season in the circle," reports Ohio's Defiance Crescent-News in a summary of DePauw University's 7-0 defeat of Defiance College yesterday in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship. With the victory, DePauw improved to 31-8 and advances to face Ohio Northern at noon today. The Tigers need to top the Polar Bears twice in order to advance to the Division III finals at Montclair State.
"The Tigers used a three-run fourth frame to jump out in front of DC and then hung another crooked number on the scoreboard with three more tallies an inning later," writes Lynn Groll.
DePauw, ranked #15 in the nation, is seeded second in the tournament.
