The former longtime member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and 1969 graduate of DePauw University is featured in Colorado's Highlands Ranch Herald in a story which previews a May 30 performance and notes that the singer-songwriter is recording new material. Writer Robyn Lydick points out that Ibbotson last released a solo album two years ago. In addition to recording self-penned tunes for the new project, "Ibbotson reworked a song melody, 'Battle of Armageddon,' writtenJimmy Ibbotson Mandola.jpg by Roy Acuff in the 1940s, and recorded, but not used, on Nitty Gritty's Will the Circle be Unbroken?."

When he's not making music, Ibbotson carves wood, the newspaper reports. The singer-songwriter cracks, "The problem with home recording is your ears get better."
