Nancy Ford '57 Elected Co-Secretary of League of Professional Theatre Women

Nancy Ford av.jpgJuly 5, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — Nancy Ford, award-winning Broadway composer and 1957 graduate of DePauw University, has been elected co-secretary of the League of Professional Theatre Women. Founded in 1980, the League is a non-profit organization committed to promoting visibility and increasing opportunities for women in the professional theatre. Ford will serve a two-year term, from July 1, 2009 until June 30, 2011.

Nancy Ford composed the music for shows including I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It On the Road, The American Girls Revue and Anne of Green Gables, all of which were collaborations with her DePauw classmate Gretchen Cryer '57, who wrote book and lyrics. Ford "has also collaborated with Tom Jones, Mae Richard, June Siegel and Mimi Turque," notes the League's announcement. "For 23 years she was a staff scriptwriter for daytime dramas. She has received an Obie, a Einstein-PosterFinal_.jpgDrama Desk Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award, two Emmys, two Writers Guild awards, and two honorary doctorates."
