Indianapolis Star Features Upcoming Rove-Dean Debate

August 12, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — "Political insiders Karl Rove and Howard Dean will debate at DePauw University next month," notes the front page of today's Indianapolis Star Metro section. The "Just One Minute" column features a photo of Governor Dean and a headline, "Debate at DePauw." The accompanying text points out that Rove, former adviser to President George W. Bush, and Dean, the former chair of the Democratic National Committee and former governor of Vermont, "will face off at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Greencastle campus."

The item continues, "The discussion topic, 'America in 2009: Challenges and Opportunities,' is part of the Timothy and Sharon Ubben Lecture Series and will take place in Kresge Auditorium of the Green Center for the Performing Arts, 605 S. College Ave. The debate format will allow the audience to ask questions and present issues. The program is open to the public, and tickets are not required."

The Ubben Lecture Series was established at DePauw in 1986 thanks to a gift to the University by 1958 graduates Timothy H. and Sharon Williams Ubben.
