Cornet sn.jpgOctober 23, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — Amazing Transformations, a composition by 1972 DePauw University graduate Allen Molineux, will be performed in a Saturday concert by the Carter Mountain Brass Band, reports the Citizen of Laconia, New Hampshire. The program will feature amateur and professional brass musicians and will take place at the First United Methodist Church in Gilford, N.H.

Amazing Transformations "will feature Val Zanchuck as solo cornetist," notes the newspaper. Molineux and Zanchuck have been friends from the time they were in elementary school, playing trumpet and competing against each other in state festivals. Zanchuck now plays with the New Hampshire Philharmonic Symphony and the Nevers Band as well as the Carter Mountain Brass Band and is president of Graphicast in Jaffrey. Molineux attended De Pauw University, studying trumpet performance and later received degrees from Eastman School of Music and Florida State University. He then went on to teach composition, music theory and brass performance at the university level until his retirement. He arranged this piece specifically to feature his friend."
