20th-ranked Tigers Open SCAC Play with Win at Rhodes

December 4, 2009, Memphis, Tenn. — Behind Katie Aldrich's 18 points and Emily Marshall's third straight double-double, the 20th-ranked Tigers opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 78-67 victory at Rhodes. DePauw improved to 4-2 on the season, while the Lynx dropped to 3-3.
The game was tied early at 6-6 before DePauw scored seven straight to take the lead for good. The Tigers' biggest lead of the half came at 34-20 after Lauren Goff hit a three-pointer with 4:49 left. Rhodes scored the game's next five points and outscored the Tigers 13-3 to close the halftime margin to 37-33.
DePauw pushed the second-half lead to as many as 16 points at 64-48 midway through the half. The Tigers still led by 15 with just over four minutes remaining before the Lynx put together an 8-1 run to trim the lead to 73-65 with 50 seconds remaining. Rhodes, however, got no closer.
Aldrich's (pictured) 18 was a season high and it came in just 16 minutes, while Marshall finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Lauren Goff paced the Tigers with four assists.
Lakeya McGill paced four Rhodes double-figure scorers with 16, while Sharwil Bell followed with 11. Becca Clarin added 11 and Becky Atnip scored 10 in the loss. Clarin hauled down six rebounds and McGill had four assists.
DePauw held a 49-29 advantage on the boards and shot 39.2 percent from the field with just 11 turnovers. The Lynx connected on 37.7 percent from the floor and had 11 turnovers.
The Tigers travel to Birmingham-Southern on Sunday for a Noon CST contest.
