December 19, 2009
December 19, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — Following a record-setting junior season, DePauw wide receiver Alex Koors has been selected to the 2009 D3football.com All-America First Team Offense. The announcement came during today's pregame show leading up to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl in Salem, Va.
Koors, who earlier earned D3football.com First Team All-South Region honors and was the 2009 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, caught 73 passes this season for a school-record 1,266 yards. His 13 touchdown receptions were the second most in a DePauw season.
Koors ranks third in Division III with 126.6 receiving yards per game and 22nd with 7.3 catches per contest this season. He totaled at least 100 receiving yards in seven games this season and topped the 200-yard plateau twice. Koors caught 11 or more passes in three games.
The Tigers finished the season with a 7-3 record and won the program's third SCAC title. The Tigers also earned the first NCAA appearance in program history.
Koors is the fourth DePauw player to earn all-America honors from D3football.com. JaMarcus Shephard was a first team return specialist in 2003, while Tyler Kelley earned honorable mention in 1999 as a tight end and Dustin Hertel did the same as a defensive end in 2006.
