Drew Powell '98 in Cast of Pee-wee Herman Show

January 11, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Drew Powell, a 1998 graduate of DePauw University, is in the cast of The Pee-wee Herman Show, which begins a run at Los Angeles' Club Nokia on Tuesday, January 12, continuing through February 7. Powell portrays Bear and provides the voices of Randy, Mr. Window and the Flower in the show, which stars Paul Reubens.
"The ultimate nerd is back," begins an article in USA Today. "Pee-wee Herman, with his red bow tie and too-tight gray suit, sashays back to his theater roots on Jan. 12 with The Pee-wee Herman Show. The 90-minute production plays for a month at Los Angeles' Club Nokia." Marco R. della Cava writes, "The production centers on Pee-wee's dream of flight." According to producer Scott Sanders, "It's a Broadway musical-caliber production with multimedia effects."
An English (literature) major and Media Fellow at DePauw, Drew Powell will also be seen in an upcoming remake of the film Straw Dogs. He recently appeared on the USA Network's In Plain Sight, the TNT series Leverage, and the USA Network's Psych. He's also seen in the motion pictures 1408 (which starred John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson) and The Marine. Powell's other roles have include a featured part in the PAX show The Ponderosa, and he was a recurring character in the FOX series Malcolm in the Middle. Powell also appeared on CBS' Cold Case, NBC's The Office and ER, and FOX's House.
