Ed Garnes 3.jpgJanuary 16, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Edward M. Garnes Jr., a 1999 graduate of DePauw University, will moderate a discussion tomorrow with philosopher and author Cornel West and his brother, Clifton West.  The event, billed as "Sweet Tea Ethics," was organized by Garnes.  It will take place at the Barnes & Noble store at 3685 Market Place Boulevard in East Point, Georgia.

Cornel West is Class of 1943 University Professor at Princeton University, where he teaches in the Center for African-American Studies and in the department of religion. He delivered the 1996 commencement address at DePauw, one of several visits he has made to the Greencastle campus (the speech is embedded below; at right: 1994 Cornel West 1 sm.jpgDr. West at DePauw on February 25, 1994).

Ed Garnes is the founder of From Afros to Shelltoes, a grass roots community-based organization focused on cultural productions that bridge generation gaps between youth, elders, and the hip hop community. It focuses on using art as a tool of empowerment.
