DePauw Women Pick up Eighth Straight Win; Improve to 12-3

January 15, 2010, Conway, Ark. — A 12-2 run over the final six minutes of the first half gave DePauw the lead for good as the Tigers claimed a 65-52 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win at Hendrix.
The Tigers improved to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the SCAC with its eighth straight win, while the Warriors dropped to 9-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Hendrix held its biggest lead of the first half at 17-13 after Anna Roane's three-pointer with 8:30 left and still led by three at 20-17 with 6:13 left.
Katie Mathews hit a bucket and two free throws which put DePauw in the lead, 21-20. Brooke Osborne followed with a pair of charity tosses before Katie Aldrich (pictured) and Ellie Pearson followed with baskets to complete the 10-0 stretch. The Tigers took a 29-22 lead to the break.
DePauw stretched the lead to as many as 16 points on three occasions in the second half. The Warriors got as close as nine, but DePauw held off the late charge.
Aldrich, the SCAC's Player of the Week last week, led the Tigers with 21 points, while Osborne added 12. Emily Marshall grabbed 12 rebounds as DePauw held a 41-34 edge on the boards. Mathews paced the Tigers with five assists.
Roane led Hendrix with 17 points with Amanda Morris following with 10. Morris and Caty Hensy each hauled down six rebounds.
DePauw shot 37.5 percent from the floor to Hendrix's 28 percent.
The Tigers return to action on Sunday with a Noon CST contest at Millsaps.
