Tigers Top Millsaps for Ninth Straight Win

January 17, 2010, Jackson, Miss. — DePauw improved to 12-3 overall and 6-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference following a 71-35 win at Millsaps. The win was the Tigers' ninth straight. The Majors dropped to 0-16 overall and 0-7 in the SCAC.
The Tigers jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the opening four minutes and never trailed. DePauw took a 39-20 lead to the break before embarking on a 17-3 run over the opening 7:26 of the second half which sealed the win.
Kate Walker (pictured) led the Tigers with a career-high 14 pints, while Katie Aldrich added 12. Walker and Kristin Barrow each grabbed five rebounds as the Tigers held a 45-15 advantage on the boards. Walker and Brooke Osborne each dished out four assists. DePauw outscored Millsaps, 19-0, in second-chance points.
Kristin Salmon paced Millsaps with nine points and shared rebounding honors with Shante' Morton and Deonna Walton as each had three.
DePauw shot 51.9 percent from the floor for the game including 58.6 percent in the first half, while Millsaps connected on just 31.8 percent from the floor. The Tigers also hit 9-of-23 three-point shots.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, January 22, when they host Southwestern at 6 p.m.
