Prof. May Phang to Perform Sunday Concert in Michigan

May Phang 2010.jpgMarch 18, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — May Phang, pianist and associate professor in the DePauw University School of Music, will perform in concert Sunday at Michigan's Saugatuck Center for the Arts. The 2 p.m. program is presented by the Sky Hempy Keyboard Performance Series.

"During the concert, Phang will perform classical pieces from Domenico Scarlatti’s single-movement compositions and the early sonatas of Charles-Valentin Alkan," reports the Holland Sentinel. "She will also present works composed by Marc-André Hamelin, Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Frédéric Chopin."

The newspaper adds, "Phang has performed on three continents, including solo recitals and chamber music concerts in venues such as the Goethe Institute and Victoria Concert Hall (Singapore), Chapelle Historique du Bon Pasteur and Placedes-Arts (Montreal), the Kennedy Center for the Arts, the National Gallery and the Chicago Cultural Center in the United States ... A finalist in the Musical Note.jpg2007 Iowa Piano Competition and prizewinner of the Chopin Young Pianists’ Competition, Phang is a music educator and assistant professor at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind."
