Nicole Pence '06 Promoted to Morning News Anchor at Lexington's WLEX

Nicole Pence 2010.jpgMarch 21, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Nicole Pence, a 2006 graduate of DePauw University, has been named morning news co-anchor at Lexington, Kentucky NBC affiliate WLEX-TV. Pence, who joined the station in 2008 as a reporter, had been filling in on the morning broadcast.  She will also report for the station's noon news.

"I'm thrilled," Pence tells the Lexington Herald- Leader. "I think viewers can expect continued genuine fun. That's the thing with (co-anchor Chris Goodman) and I: We are really good friends." She adds, "Viewers are going to get two people who really, really enjoy what they do every day. I'm a news junkie, and he's a little bit more entertainment so, when you put us together, it's the perfect balance."

Nicole Pence graduated cum laude from DePauw with a double major in communication and Spanish and a minor in political science. In 2004, NBC Logo.jpgshe was one of four DePauw students to share a national Society of Professional Journalists' "Mark of Excellence" award for "Best Radio Sports Reporting." Before joining WLEX she worked for Indiana's News Center in Fort Wayne, where she was a reporter and fill-in news anchor.
