Dallas Morning News Cites Jason Reitman's Recent Visit, Quotes Ken Owen '82
April 11, 2010
April 11, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — A Dallas Morning News feature on Gail Davis & Associates, a Texas-based speakers bureau, notes, "Last fall, the agency cold-called Ken Owen, who handles a lecture series at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind." That conversation subsequently led to Academy Award-nominee Jason Reitman coming to DePauw on March 15.
"Jason came eight days after the Oscars and was terrific on every level," Owen, executive director of media relations and a 1982 graduate of DePauw, tells the newspaper. Before delivering the Timothy and Sharon Ubben Lecture, Reitman "went to a dinner, and the students were in awe. He went from table to table and worked the room. To see their facial expressions was priceless."
Cheryl Hall writes, "Owen says dealing with the Davis bureau was a joy compared to other experiences. 'Some negotiations for speakers are like the Mideast peace talks. This was so smooth.'"
The piece is accompanied by a photo (seen at right) of Jason Reitman at The Elms (the home of DePauw's President Brian W. Casey), which was shot by senior Alex Turco, who is credited by the paper.
