#12 Tigers Eliminated from SCAC Softball Tournament

April 24, 2010, Conway, Ark. — DePauw entered today's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament play on a 19-game win streak and ranked 12th in Division III, but following losses to Millsaps and Southwestern the Tigers are eliminated from the conference tournament.
DePauw took a 1-0 lead in the first against Millsaps as Brianne Weeks led off with a double and scored when Rachel MacBeth reached on an error. Millsaps knotted the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning as Emily Spicer scored on Josie Matthews' single.
The Majors made it 3-1 in the third on Allison Tarbox's two-run homer and stretched it to 4-1 when Jade Hewitt singled home Matthews and Spicer drove in three with a double to left center.
Emma Minx led off the sixth with a double and scored on Amy Hallett's single to center, but that ended the scoring.
DePauw totaled six hits led by two each from Weeks and MacBeth. Spicer had three of the Majors' 10 hits with Matthews adding a pair. Kasey Thibodeau improved to 17-9 with the win, while Megan Soultz dropped to 21-3.
In the elimination game against Southwestern, the Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the third as Taylor Turpin led off with a bunt single and moved to second on Amanda Ambrose's ground out. Aly Pulver followed with an RBI single. They made it 2-0 in the fourth when Haley Hughes doubled in Katelyn Gola and extended it to 3-0 in the fifth when Gola's single plated Bre Lewis.
DePauw's lone two runs came in the sixth when Weeks reached on an error and moved to second on MacBeth's single. Minx then doubled scoring both.
Each team totaled five hits in the game with only MacBeth collecting two. Lyndsy Maus improved to 14-5, while Soultz dropped to 21-4.
The Tigers return to action on Sunday, May 2, when they face Trine at Noblesville High School at 2 p.m.Back
