DePauw Captures SCAC's President's Trophy for Fifth Consecutive Year
April 28, 2010
April 28, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — "With spring championships in women's tennis and women's golf -- in addition to second-place finishes in men's and women's track & field, baseball and men's tennis -- DePauw University cruised to a 127.5 point victory in the race for the 2009-10 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference President's Trophy," notes an announcement from the conference today. DePauw's total of 925 points bested the 797.5 of runner-up Trinity University. (at left: the President's Trophy)
The text adds, "DePauw has now won the last five SCAC all-sports trophies, but this one was much easier than the previous four. In fact, this year's margin of victory for DePauw equals the total margin from the last four all-sports races combined ... DePauw is just the third school in the history of the conference (CAC or SCAC) to put together a Presidents Trophy win streak of five or more years."
In addition to DePauw's two spring sports titles, the Tigers also won titles this year in women's cross country, women's basketball and men's swimming and diving and shared one in football. (at right: the women's golf team with this year's championship trophy)
