David Small '82 is Featured Soloist in Ohio Concert Saturday

May 6, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Saturday's closing concert of the Canton (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra's 2009-10 MasterWorks Series will feature baritone David Small as a soloist. Small is an associate professor of music at the University of Texas at Austin and a 1982 graduate of DePauw University.
Professor Small "not only teaches vocal music, but also has created a highly acclaimed career on the concert and operatic stage since earning his Artist's Diploma in opera and a Master of Music in voice performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he studied under the late Metropolitan Opera basso Italo Tajo," notes an article, which also cites his DePauw degree. "In 1991, he debuted his Figaro in The Barber of Seville for the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. Since then, he has enjoyed over 100 performances of the role as well as performing over 50 other operatic roles."
