Romero Competes at PGA Minority Golf Championship

Romero_Camila_200910wgolf.jpgMay 7, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. —  DePauw freshman Camila Romero begins play today at the 24th PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Romero, a freshman from Cali, Colombia, earned all-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors in her rookie season after finishing fifth at last month's conference tournament which capped a streak of three straight top-five finishes.

Romero shared medalist honors at the Katman Klassic and was second at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling.

She averaged 82.4 strokes per round this year for the fourth-ranked Tigers and finished in the top 10 of the nine tournaments in which she competed.

The PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship features 21 men's teams and an additional 35 female individuals as well as seven women's squads in addition to 15 female individual players.
