May 16, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. —  Ohio Northern hit four homers on the way to a 7-3 win over Washington University in an elimination game of the NCAA Division III Softball Championships' Greencastle, Indiana Regional.

The Polar Bears improved to 40-6 with the win and advanced to play a 2 p.m. game against DePauw. With a win, Washington would force a Monday championship game. The Bears finished their season at 37-11.

Mandi Fought led off the Bears' first with a triple and Jackie Mangola followed with a towering, two-run homer to left. Tina Mangola followed with a solo shot later in the inning to extend the lead to 3-0.

Kimi Blewett led off the third with a homer and Cassie Gaye added a two-run blast later in the frame to make it 6-0. The Polar Bears added one more in the fourth when Jackie Mangola led off with a double and scored on Katie Cretin's two-out single.

Ohio Northern pitcher Cortney Cash held the Bears hitless for four innings before Ally Berenter led off the fifth with a homer. Later in the inning, Ashton Hitchcock reached on a fielder's choice and Alyssa Abramoski followed with an RBI double.

Megan Fieser led off the Bears' sixth with a single and moved to second on Carter Malouf's base hit. Berenter then drew a walk to load the bases and Corissa Santos followed with a long fly which Tina Mangola hauled in just in front of the fence. Fieser scored on the play, but pinch-runner Sondra Polonsky was doubled off of first to end the threat.

Jackie Mangola, Cretin and Gaye each had two of the Polar Bears' 10 hits, while Claire Voris had two of Washington's six.

Cash improved to 21-4, while Voris dropped to 21-7.
