Ian Rolland '55 Elected to Trine University Board

Rolland, the retired chairman of Lincoln National Corp. and 1955 graduate of DePauw University, has been elected to the board of trustees of Trine University in Angola, Indiana. Rolland is a life trustee of DePauw and is past chair of his alma mater's board.

"He has played leadership roles in numerous insurance industry organizations, and also boasts a distinguished service history," notes Inside Indiana Business.com. He is a past member of the board of trustees of the Hudson Institute; a member of the board of University of Saint Francis; a panel member of the Child Care Action Campaign National Advisory Panel; a member of the advisory board of CID Ventures and CID Partners," notes the report, which also cites Rolland's service to DePauw.  He is currently chair of the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation and serves on the boards of directors of prominent corporations, including NiSource and Bright Horizons Family Solutions.

After graduating from DePauw, where he majored in mathematics and economics, Rolland earned a master's degree in mathematics at University of Michigan in Rolland Welcome Center.jpg1956.  He has been awarded honorary doctorates from DePauw, Purdue, University of St. Francis, Manchester College, Trine University and Indiana Institute of Technology.

A gift from Rolland and his wife created the Ian and Mimi Rolland Welcome and Activities Center, which was dedicated on April 21, 2006. It serves as a trailhead building for groups entering the DePauw Nature Park, where they can receive orientation and plan their activities.
