DePauw's Inn Has a New Name, "Ambassador" and Local Management

walden inn front.jpgJuly 1, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — The hotel, restaurant and conference facility which has been a fixture on the DePauw University campus since 1986 has new management and a new name, effective today.  As announced in April, Dora Hotel Company LLC, one of Indiana's largest hotel management companies, is assuming management of the 54-room facility, which is now known as The Inn at DePauw and Conference Center (formerly Walden Inn).

Dora Hotel Company will build upon The Inn at DePauw's success as a regional destination for corporate functions, weddings, social Inn at DePauw.jpgevents, and retreats. The hotel will improve the things that matter most to guests -- a comfortable, contemporary hotel; friendly service; exceptional food quality; and ensuring a relaxing, worry-free stay.

Longtime patrons of The Inn will notice a number of improvements.  They include:

  • New restaurant and catering menus;
  • Upgraded bed linens have been put in each room;
  • Local artists, including DePauw students, will be invited to provide works to be displayed throughout the hotel and conference center.

In addition, a guest service training program is being implemented to ensure that each visitor Tiger INN June2010-1.jpgreceives first-rate customer service.

"At the end of the day, guest satisfaction is our primary focus" states Trish Williams, general manager of The Inn at DePauw. "We look forward to introducing improved standards in food quality and guest service to maintain the facility's standing as a first-class venue."

The Inn at DePauw is excited to welcome the hotel's new community ambassador, Tiger (seen at left and below). A miniature golden doodle, the dog will spend time in the hotel lobby greeting visitors and will attend community functions and DePauw sporting events.

"The Dora family has made it quite clear that it is committed to strengthening The Inn's ties to the campus and the larger community and to bring new energy to a place which is an important local gathering place and a vital contributor to the local economy," says Brad Kelsheimer, vice president for finance and administration at DePauw. The Inn at DePauw offers a variety of amenities such as complimentary fitness center, 24-hour front desk, free high speed Internet access, complimentary DVD lending library for hotel guests, two full-service restaurants, coffee shop featuring Starbucks coffee, and elegantly designed banquet space capable of accommodating up to 450 people.

The property is within walking distance to DePauw, the University's 520-acre Nature Park and downtown Greencastle. The area's covered bridges, Big Walnut Conservation Area, and several golf courses are also a short drive from the hotel. The Inn at DePauw is located 45 minutes from Indianapolis International Airport (IND) as well and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home to the world's largest single-day sporting event.
