Lamont Paris.jpgSeptember 10, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Lamont Paris, who served as an assistant men's basketball coach at DePauw University from 1998-2000, has been appointed to the same position at the University of Wisconsin. Paris spent the past six years as an assistant hoops coach at the University of Akron.

"We're extremely excited to add Lamont Paris to our staff," says the Badgers' head coach, Bo Ryan. "He is very well respected across the college basketball landscape as one of the top up-and-coming coaches. His track record and combination of personality, background and recruiting make him a great fit for our staff. He has a strong pedigree as a teacher, a coach and in developing players. The teams he has been associated with, whether that's as a player or as a coach, have always won at a high level."

"I'm very excited about this opportunity," Paris said. "Any time you have the chance to work with one of the best coaches in the country like Coach Ryan, it's a blessed opportunity. Being from Ohio, I'm very familiar with the Big Ten and Wisconsin. I'm anxious to get started and I'm looking forward to contributing in any way I can."

An article at Madison NBC affiliate WMTV, which notes Paris' DePauw affiliation, can be accessed at the station's Web site.
