Tigers Improve to 6-1 with Win over Millikin

September 19, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Ryan Keefe scored on a penalty kick in the 64th minute to give DePauw a 2-1 victory over visiting Millikin Sunday evening at Boswell Field. Keefe notched his sixth goal of the season as the Tigers improved to 6-1. Millikin dropped to 4-2 on the season with the loss.
Dean Weaver put DePauw on the board first with a score on an assist by George Elliott at the 17:10 mark. However, Millikin countered less than a minute later on a goal by Max Huschen, tying the game at 1-1.
In the second half, a Millikin foul in the box gave the Tigers an opportunity, as Keefe scored on the penalty kick. The 2-1 lead would hold, giving DePauw the victory.
The Tigers held a 10-8 advantage in shots and totaled seven corners, while Millikin recorded five. Goalkeeper Nate Sprenkel tallied three saves in the game and Millikin’s Derrek Schwartz made four saves in the loss.
DePauw begins Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday, September 24, when it hosts Oglethorpe at 8 p.m.
