QB Michael Engle Profiled on D3football.com

86223October 7, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — "We were very pleased with the foundation that last year's senior class left us with -- going to the playoffs for the first time," says DePauw University quarterback Michael Engle. "But at the same time, we weren't satisfied with losing the last two games and getting knocked out in the first round. We want to build on that and get better. We know we have to do that one day and one week at a time. And that's what we are trying to do."

Engle, a senior, is profiled on D3football.com, in a story which details how he spent his first three years in a black and gold uniform backing up DePauw's all-time passing leader, Spud Dick.  With Dick's graduation in May, Engle has seized the opportunity he's inherited.  The Tigers are off to a 4-0 start and Engle has completed 104-of-150 passes (69.3%) for 1,129 yards and 12 touchdowns.

His top target, senior wide receiver Alex Koors, is also quoted in the piece.  Koors has grabbed 31 receptions in the first four games for 446 yards and 7 TDs and has claimed the 84670all-time school record for receiving yards.

"I think everybody in our locker room had confidence in him," Koors says of Engle. "We all knew what he was capable of. We knew he had the necessary qualities to be a starting quarterback. From the beginning of the season, he showed he was ready to step in and lead this program. He’s a senior so he’s been around the program for a long time. He knows everything that there is to know about our offense. He prepares better than anybody that I’ve been around. He’s smart, a leader. He gets us into a lot of good play calls." (at right: Koors makes a touchdown catch in the season opener)
