Tigers Top Sewanee; Ellis Ties SCAC Single-Season Goals Record

85753October 9, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. —  Margaret Ellis scored two first-half goals to lead DePauw to a 3-1 victory over Sewanee this afternoon at McKeen Field. The two scores lifted her season total 1to 16 which ties the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark previously set in 2008 by Sewanee's Lyn Hancock.

With the win, DePauw improved to 10-2 on the season and 4-1 in SCAC play. The loss dropped Sewanee to 3-7 (1-4 SCAC).

Ellis scored just seven minutes into the contest to give DePauw the early advantage and she tallied her second score at 28:37.

Sewanee’s Taylor Skeen countered with a score on a Carly Grimm assist near the end of the first half, cutting DePauw’s lead to 2-1. DePauw’s Addie McDonnell added a goal in the second half to secure the victory.

DePauw had a 26-3 advantage in shots and led in corners, 14-2.

Goalkeeper Liz Attewell made one save for DePauw, while Sewanee’s Anne Morrow and Emily Detmer split time in goal, combining for 18 saves.

DePauw travels to face Denison on October 16 at 12 p.m.

Sewanee’s Taylor Skeen countered with a score on a Carly Grimm assist near the end of the first half, cutting DePauw’s lead to 2-1.

DePauw’s Addie McDonnell added a goal in the second half to secure the 3-1 victory. DePauw had the overwhelming advantage in shots, 26-3, and in corners, 14-2.
