Hendrix Advances to SCAC Semifinals with Overtime Win against Sewanee

November 5, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Kelly Rappe's overtime goal lifted fifth-seeded Hendrix to a 4-3 victory over fourth-seed overcame 3-1 deficit with 17 minutes left and claimed a 4-3 victory over fourth-seeded Sewanee in the opening game of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
Hendrix improved to 5-9 with the win and advanced to the semifinals for the first time in the tournament's history. The Warriors will face top-seeded Rhodes tomorrow at 11 a.m. Sewanee finished its season at 5-12.
Rappe gave Hendrix a 1-0 lead just 5:35 into the contest and the Warriors carried that lead into the intermission. Sewanee's Anne Booke scored on Carly Grimm's assist at 40:26 to tie the score before Caroline Carlin made it 2-1 just three minutes later. Booke added a second goal at 47:53 to push the Tigers' margin to 3-1.
Heather Newell then knotted the score with a pair goals at 53:41 and 60:11. Maggie DesPain assisted on the latter.
Hendrix held a 15-14 edge in shots and Sewanee led in corners, 12-11. Alyssa Havens totaled eight saves for the Warriors, while Sewanee's Anna Morrow added eight.Back
